Frozen Niagara Falls!
One of the largest
calcite formations in the caverns, the Frozen Niagara, a scaled down version
of Niagara Falls, could be the United States' side or could be the Canadian
side, depending on your perspective and imagination.
This flowstone calcite formation is approximatly 36,000 years old, which makes it the oldest and largest formation in the cavern.
Did you know calcite takes about 100 years to grow one cubic inch? When you visit the Secret Caverns feel free to camp out next to this formation and tell us if it grows.
